After tallying the result of several months’ survey opinions submitted by their wine-loving readers, Napa Valley Life Magazine recently announced their “Best of Napa Valley Readers’ Choice Awards” results.
This comprehensive survey asked readers to assess and comment on various categories, including Napa Valley’s Best Winemakers, Tasting Rooms, Winery Tour Companies, Wine Bars, Outdoor Tastings Venues, “Hidden Gems,” and even the best breweries and restaurants in the area.
Best Boutique Winery Results
One category, “Best Boutique Winery”, assessed the artisanal, limited-production wineries that dot Napa Valley’s landscape. While Napa Valley boasts more than a hundred of these handcrafting wineries, a few excellent ones clearly stood out in the survey participants’ view.
Handwritten Wines of Yountville scored an impressive Second Place in this category, just behind the highly regarded Vlader Winery and ahead of the Sill Family Vineyards and a vast selection of other top-flight nominees.
And, not surprisingly, Handwritten’s sister winery, arts-minded Jessup Cellars, was recognized as one of the top three wineries for the Best Art Collection and Galleries.

- Classic Wine Tasting: Sample four hillside Cabernet Sauvignons poured side-by-side for your comparison. The Tasting includes truffle potato chips and fluffa crackers.
- Bread and Butter Experience: Sample four hillside Cabernet Sauvignons presented in a side-by-side format. The Tasting includes white truffle potato chips, Bouchon Bakery baguette, three artisan domestic butters, Coppa Salame, and P’tit Basque cheese.
- Pinot Noir Vertical Experience: A vertical tasting incorporates four different vintages of the same. Guests try to detect the difference created by each season’s growing conditions. The Tasting will also include a vertical tasting of Gouda cheeses from Oakdale Cheese Company and a taste of Handwritten Wines’ Relié Cuvée Champagne.
